Counselling for Women
Women Counselling
I practice from a single-session counselling perspective. That doesn't mean that we meet only once; it means that EVERY single meeting should be of value. I want to know what will make the difference for you *today*. What do you need to get out of *this* contact to make things better?
I use evidence-based modalities, such as CBT and mindfulness. I love narrative therapy, which lends itself beautifully to online counselling. The technologies of e-counselling may be new, but letter writing has a long therapeutic history.
In the years I have been working with women, I have been told that my genuine caring and understanding along with gentle humour has made a big difference in their lives. I truly care about the women I counsel and I work hard on their behalf. They deserve nothing less.
Academics
I graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a degree in psychology in 1996. I was one of only four students selected for their prestigious Internship program. While participating in that program, I was nominated for a work term report award.
Services
E-Counselling
I am so excited about e-counselling. The technology is new(ish), but journalling and letter-writing have a loooong history. You write email to me and I spend at least an hour writing a thoughtful response. I ask therapeutic questions, share information and insights just as I would in person.
It is well-accepted that journalling for therapeutic purposes is an effective way to gain insight and feel better. Imagine the process when it is interactive counselling with a trained professional!
